Minutes of the Meeting of Group Charlie on 28/2/2000 at 12:15 pm at Cockcroft 4

Present : Andy, David, Karen, Martin, Nathan, Phebe

Progress to date

  1. The Program Charlie is working now, but the speed for grids more than 10 x 10 is extremely slow. It is decided not to do any more work on speeding up Dijkstra, but concentrate on tidying up the Release version of Charlie.
  2. Nathan will add impassable square tile functionality related to TerrainMap and Dijkstra.
  3. Nathan will produce DijkstraSurface which is an algorithm module ignoring tunnels and organise tests for it.
  4. Karen will sort out the bug files and rename them.
  5. Progress indicator still needs to be sorted out.
  6. Nathan will change the CanalRoute loading method so that the filename can be set in TerrainMap.
  7. Suggestions to use HTML tool eg. Frontpage Express to produce the user manual were made. Phebe will look into how much extra work need to be done if it is not Word97 HTML conversion.
  8. Sections to be included in the User Manual :-
  9. Introduction

    Facilities

Methods (layman descriptions on simplification asnd algorithm)

    File Formats

    terrain

    route

    export

    Tutorials - Examples

    References - Running Instructions

    Decisions

  10. The 3D View functionality is currently not working properly, after Dave's investigation on Tuesday, if it still doesn't work properly, grey out 3D View.
  11. Andy will produce a Splash Screen using .awt . Dave will produce the images.
  12. DijkstraBig will be abandoned as it doesn't really improve the speed.
  13. The program development state will be frozen as the Release Version by Thursday 2/3/2000 at 12:00 noon. No change (in particular the user interface) should be made after that time, so that the documentation can be finalised.
  14. The following bugs / incomplete functionality / improvements on the GUI need to be sorted out:-
  15. Export functionality

    Print functionality

    Reset costs

impassable square tile indicator (Bright Red X) and throw Exception

    Set

    DijkstraSurface

Dijkstra & TerrainMap - add /test impassable square tiles

    Canal routing under itself problem

Panel Info - CanalRoute/Position Info -AWT doc.

  16. The presentation and demonstration preparation will be discussed at the next meeting. Visual aid etc. can be prepared over the weekend for final decisions next Monday 6/2/2000.
  17. Review Meeting

  18. Dave will start a new Demo directory, and will upload Terrain and Route files for the purpose of demonstration on Wednesday 1/3/2000 (and 8/3/2000).
  19. Dave will be responsible to demonstrate Charlie to the supervisor / overseer at the Review meeting.
  20. For convenience and speed, it is decided that the demonstration will be on Karen's Laptop. (reminder for : bring lead and battery fully charged)
  21. Decision on greying out 3D view and Zoomer pending Dave's investigation
  22. For further enhancement section of the final report, the following items will be included :-
  23. optimisation

    locking

    3D close up

  24. Andy will tidy up the website in case the supervisor /overseer want to see it, and prepare the submission version of the final report.
  25. Personal report of each member has to be passed to Andy at 11:00am Tuesday 29/2/2000 (after lecture at Art School Room A)
